My Florida Showcase focuses primarily on two NZ agribiz sanctuary investment products,i.e.
(1) Under USD5M & under 5ha (OIA exempt).
(2) Over USD5M & over 5ha (OIA regulated).
OIA exempt investments are of interest to HNW investors.
OIA regulated investments are of interest to UHNW investors who seek trophy assets.
From the winter-less north to the deep south, foreign investors have a huge range of rural lifestyle sanctuary investments available from which to choose the region that they see as meeting their family "DNA".
The three steps set out here target the HNW (High Net Worth) investor / family that prefer minimal regulatory involvement as they "dip their toes in the water" with a sanctuary home in NZ. Typically, such investments would be rural properties such as small orchards up to 5ha in compliance with OIA exemption guidelines. With residence and a small income stream attaching, an easy way to get a "feeling" for the rural New Zealand way of life and its safety as the foreign investor plans their next step.
While on an individual basis, angel investments in the US will range between USD50,000 up to USD500,000 in New Zealand they typically vary between NZD10,000 and NZD25,000.
With its small population base, New Zealand faces challenges in building an angel investor ecosystem that has the where-with-all to take seed stage companies through to the more substantive Series A and into successive capital rounds that are the norm in the US capital market.
Interestingly, most NZ regions have an angel network up and going. It goes without saying that a US HNW family investing in regional NZ has both the capital and experience that angel groups in all regions, would welcome.
With your agribiz sanctuary now delivering a second home in New Zealand, (maybe with income attached), and having established your interest in supporting early stage NZ founded companies to grow with your investment capital, you are now in a position to apply for permanent residency in New Zealand.
BTW, I recently met with the MP for Northland, our NZ base. Pleased to hear that (1) his Govt was very supportive of bringing foreign investment into NZ, (2) that the current immigration investment regulations and the Overseas Investment Act are both being reviewed, with substantive change likely to make NZ ever more attractive to foreign investors who bring two very important forms of capital to NZ. Financial and Intellectual.
A heritage farm with an exciting future as the hub for a NZ tea tree agribiz project in the Matemateaonga district. US8M in-going. OIA regulated.
These listings will be assembled into a portfolio by my NZ Partner once the Showcase has "soft opened" and ready for listings. Both Govt exempt up to 5ha and Govt regulated orchards over 5ha in size will be listed for presentation to American investors who may wish to invest in the ownership of a second "sanctuary" home abroad. Like in New Zealand, the world's safest country by the proverbial "country mile".
Agribiz originated, natural plant based therapeutic grade infection control products are in demand globally to counter HAI.
Early stage capital rounds such as Pre-Series A will be of interest to foreign HNWI's planning on seeking NZ investor visa residency.
Because I am an American who has lived in NZ for 18 years during two sojourns to the country.
Being based in Florida, Americans can call me or drop into the Showcase for a "one-on-one" chat about investing in NZ, A great way to to start relationship building. A permanent US office also lends "comfort" to the process.
